No ferry. Abeer Guest House is on El-Qobba Street on the East Bank, 950 metres from Luxor Temple, which is a walk of about twelve minutes. Every other guest house in this guide sits across the river and adds a boat crossing to that number. The museum is 2.1 km away and Karnak 4 km, both still on this side.
The trade runs the other way for the tombs. The Colossi of Memnon are 4.8 km from here and the Valley of the Kings 7 km, so a day on the West Bank means the crossing that guests staying there avoid. Location scores 9.4.
Nine room types run from 18 m2 to 60 m2, and the range is unusually honest for a place at this price. There are two apartments sleeping three, private-bathroom doubles at 18 and 26 m2, a 60 m2 superior room, and at the bottom two rooms with a shared bathroom, one of them with bunk beds. Rooms start at 14 euros a night.
The house is run by a family and the reviews name them. Staff scores 9.9, the highest category, and value for money 9.7. WiFi is free and Booking measured it at 26 Mbps, which is enough for video calls. It still scores 8.9, the lowest of the seven categories. The network works, but it is not fast.
Arabic, English and German are spoken. Check-in runs from 15:00 to 18:00, a narrower window than most places here, so tell the family if you land late. Cots and extra beds are not available.
